El Centro’s 47th Annual Fundraising Event - The Amazing Race

Online Registration Opens Thursday October 7th 2021!

Teams of up to 4 will be competing against each other as they travel throughout our county collecting points and solving clues. Be sure to collect as many points as possible before time runs out!

This event will also have a Zoom and cell phone app component!
Teams will sign in to receive clues, watch videos and message from sponsors, and updates on the teams' race positions.

We are guaranteeing a fun event!

  • 1st Place Prize: $400.00
  • 2nd Place: $200.00
  • 3rd Place: $100.00

Congeniality will be awarded for Best Decorated Car, Best Team Name and Best Team Costume!

Front Door Locked Until Further Notice

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, El Centro’s front door will remain locked until further notice. We thank all of you for the support and understanding during this time that we are forced to offer the services in untraditional ways.

For the month of October, we will continue providing services virtually, by phone and by appointment only.

If services are needed and you need to come to the office, we encourage you to call the office first (440-277-8235) to receive the new procedure for office visits.


COVID Care Team Booking Vaccination Appointments

El Centro’s COVID Care Team is now able to book first and second dose COVID-19 vaccination appointments in partnership with Lorain County Public Health. To register, please call 440-240-7064 to speak to a member of the COVID Care Team. This service is available in both English and Spanish.


Bilingual HUD-Certified Homebuyer Education Workshops

These classes will help to improve financial literacy to the residents of Lorain County. El Centro is offering homebuyers two courses (four hours per class) focused on: Financial Literacy (budgeting & saving) and the home ownership process to prepare participants on the homebuying process. El Centro and The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland (Legal Aid)

El Centro and The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland (Legal Aid) will host a community-based outreach clinic to clients who live, work, or go to school in Lorain County. The clinic will be held at El Centro from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (by appointment only). Legal Aid will only provide legal services regarding civil matters to include problems related to money, housing, health, work, and children and family (not criminal). Free Tutoring

El Centro’s 231Go! middle school collaborative is offering tutoring and homework help sessions by appointment. We have bilingual tutors available throughout the school year. For more information, contact Veronica Gonzalez at 440-277-8235 Ext. 7014.


El Centro is looking for an AmeriCorp VISTA member AmeriCorps Student & Community Support Specialist (2021-2022)

231 Go! Middle School Collaborative funded by United Way of Lorain County and in partnership with El Centro de Servicios Sociales is in search of (2) Part-Time or (1) Full-Time AmeriCorps member(s) to provide academic enrichment and social-emotional engagement/support in Lorain, OH. This is a national service position for which participants receive a living allowance in lieu of a salary. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving social-emotional skills among students served along with supporting academic enrichment and family engagement. Parent Engagement /Padres Comprometidos Classes


Parent Engagement /Padres Comprometidos classes will be starting in October. These classes are in collaboration with Lorain County Community College and UnidosUS. You will learn how to work with your schools to prepare your child for college and beyond. Workshops are offered in Spanish and will end with a family celebration.
