Coronavirus Relief Funds

Lorain County Board of Commissioners awarded El Centro Coronavirus Relief funds to help residents in Lorain County whose work and income have been impacted due to COVID-19. Residents will need to prove that they are behind in payments due to the pandemic. Applications will be received Monday to Wednesday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at El Centro. If you are interested, please call 440-277-8235 to be prescreened to see if you meet the requirements for funding. Free Tutoring

El Centro’s 231Go! middle school collaborative is offering tutoring and homework help sessions by appointment. We have three bilingual tutors available throughout the school year. For more information, contact Veronica Gonzalez at 440-277-8235 Ext. 7014.

Free Citizenship Classes

Free Citizenship Classes will be held Saturdays via Zoom from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. These classes are in collaboration with students from Oberlin College. Parent Engagement Classes

These virtual classes are in collaboration with Lorain County Community College, and UnidosUS. Classes will be every Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for an 11-week series and parents will learn how to work with your schools to prepare your child for college and beyond. Workshops are offered in Spanish and will end with a family celebration. Parents can join any time during the 11-week period. El Centro “Drive Thru” Mobile Food Pantry

El Centro “Drive Thru” Mobile Food Pantry in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, has moved to Oakwood Park. The Food Pantry will run from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (NOTE - NEW TIME CHANGE) or until the food runs out. Income eligible households (below 200% of the poverty level) are given one box of food and multiple bags of fresh vegetables on a first-come, first-served basis – FREE. Photo ID and proof of residency required. Volunteers will place the items in your trunk (be sure to have your trunk empty).
